JAMMU, Dec 30: Doctors’ Association Jammu (DAJ) has demanded immediate and unconditional revocation of the new policy issued by Health and Medical Education (HME) Department where by medicos are barred from higher studies for five years after joining the Health services.
“DAJ feels that obtaining higher academic expertise in the form of MD/MS/Diploma or super specializations like MCH, DM and various DNB courses and tenure posts like Registrarships, should be merit based and every one should be allowed to pursue the same with a strong written bond of rejoining the Health services after obtaining such degrees,” a handout issued by the Association said.
It said that more qualified can serve the society in a better way and it can not be stopped by such orders. The HME Department should better choose some other ways like incentives to enhance and promote joining of Health services by medicos than putting blanket ban for five long years, actually when they are most likely to undergo those courses.
President of the Association Dr Balvinder Singh in an appeal to the Financial Commissioner, HME Department, said that medicos are likely to get these courses earlier in their carrier and they should be supported right in the begging to obtain such specialist courses as and when they get these.
While understanding the need of medicos at peripheral health institutions, Dr Manjeet Singh also appealed the medicos to join and serve the State services after obtaining higher qualifications on Government expenses.
“There should be a strong bond system where by every Government medico will have to serve the UT after having been allowed to undergo higher studies,” he asserted.
