JAMMU, Oct 14: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that the so-called revival package (for economy) announced by the Government earlier, is nothing but a hoax and cruel joke on the suffering people.
Listening to the grievances of aggrieved people from different areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency, Bhalla termed the newly announced economic package of Rs 1350 crore for revival of local economy a “crude joke”, saying the package is too diminutive to cover the whooping Rs 45,000 crore losses to Jammu and Kashmir economy.
He said the losses incurred by the industries sector post August 5 clamp down followed by the prevailing COVID-19 crises has broken the back of J&K’s economy. The revival package is mute on the reverses suffered by the horticulture and agriculture sector due to the vagaries of weather, post August clamp down and succeeding lock down.
Similarly, there is nothing substantial for the transport sector as well,” he said. He said the entire economic activity in J&K has suffered more reverses than the rest of the India in view of the earlier clampdown. The announcement is tantamount to rubbing salts into the wounds of people. The announcement is a plain jugglery of words and numbers,” he said.
He urged the Government to consider the long pending demands including regularization and regular wages of agitating daily wagers, need based, ITI trained, CP workers and other such categories of workers in PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control and other Departments.
Bhalla said problems like lack of basic amenities, unemployment and inflation forced the common man to live in miserable conditions. He observed that this regime has antagonized all sections of people whether it is the youth, Government employees, women or even children, this Government has hurt every section of the society.
He stated that people had enough dose of mis-governance in the J&K for last six years, saying people have realized that they have to support Congress which can address their issues and fulfill their expectations.
