JAMMU, Jan 19: Congress Party has demanded immediate review of the existing rates of fare and freight charges in order to extend the benefit of reduction in the rates of petrol and diesel to the common people.
In a statement chief spokesman of Congress Ravinder Sharma (MLC ) has demanded that the reduction in the rates of fare and freight should be commensurate with the reduction of the prices of petrol and diesel, which is the right of common people.
He said that there has been huge reduction of the prices of crude oil in the international market but the reduction of petrol and diesel in India is not commensurate with the fall of prices in international market, as the Central Govt. has hiked the Excise Duty which is an anti-poor step. It is the duty of the Government to pass on the benefits of the reduction of the rates to the common people by simultaneously lowering the fare and freight charges, Mr. Sharma added.
