SAMBA, Dec 8: The Patw-aris (Revenue officials) today held a protest dharna outside the office of Deputy Commissioner here in support of their long pending demands.
Under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association (AJKPA), scores of Patwaris drawn from various tehsils of the district this morning assembled outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner and raised slogans in support of their demands.
They were demanding release of pending salaries, maintenance of service books, relaxation in public recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, construction of Patwar khanas, creation of Girdawar cirlcles and enhancement of field allowance.
“We had already discussed issues with the Government, but no significant development has been made in this regard. The field functionaries are working without salaries for the last 18 months. Even, the service books of Patwaris and Girdawars are not properly maintained,” said Amjad Khan, district president of the association and urged the Government to look into the matter seriously and redress their demands at the earliest.
