JAMMU, Sept 13: The Revenue Department has handed over two Kanals of land to Power Development Department (PDD) for construction of 33X11 kv Receiving Station at Chowadi, Jammu out of the 29 kanals and 14 Marlas of land which it retrieved from the clutches of land mafia at Chowadi few days back on the directives of J&K High Court.
The prime land was encroached by land mafia and J&K High Court while taking serious exception of land grabbing has passed on orders to Revenue authorities to get the same reiterated at an earliest. On the directives of High Court, the Deputy Commissioner , Jammu passed orders to Tehsildar Bahu who along with other civil and Police officers got the land retrieved out of which the possession of two Kanals of land was given to PDD for construction of Receiving Station.
The Receiving Station as per the senior engineers of the Department will be constructed within three months and it will improve the power supply position in Greater Kailash and surrounding areas. The Revenue authorities have also warned the land mafia of serious action for grabbing State or Forest land.
