JAMMU, Jan 28: The retired employees from J&K Prisons Department urged upon the higher authorities to resolve their pending issues without any delay.
In a meeting of the J&K Retired Prisons Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) held here today, the members expressed serious concern over the pressing problems of retired Prisons personnel. They said their issues failed to get due attention from the departmental authorities so far.
Krishan Singh, president of PREWA said that he has sought time to meet DGP Prisons along with deputation to apprise him about these problems and seek remedial steps to relieve RPP from undue hardships.
Singh urged upon the Government to pay remaining amount of 7th Central Pay Commission arrears to all the pensioners and employees in one go on Central pattern. He also demanded increase Medical allowance from existing paltry rate of Rs 300 to at least Rs 1000 on Central pattern, release DA arrears pertaining to the period from January to June 2009 pre-2006 pensioners which already stands paid to the employees and post pensioners long back.
The PREWA president also made a strong plea to the Government to extend 8 % hardships allowance in favour of Prison personnel to bring parity with their colleagues in Police organization, issue formal orders for appointment of warders etc. after the recruitment drive took place some year back in which some wards of retired prison personnel also appeared and fill the vacant post in the department and issue formal orders for confirming the promotion as In-charge Superintendants Jail immediately.
