JAMMU, Mar 15: Highlighting their demands, retired non-Gazetted Police officials held a protest demonstration near the Press Club, here today.
The protest was organized under the banner of All J&K Retired NGO Police Personal Forum. The protester raised slogans in support of their demands, which included implementation of court order on SRO-14 benefits, reservation for children of retired cops, free medical treatment and medicines for them, Rs 50,000 from DG fund for marriage of daughters of retired cops.
They were also demanding one-rank one pension on the pattern of Army and cremation of retired police personnel with full honour just like Army does.
The protest demonstration was addressed by S Ajit Singh, president of J&K retired NGO Police Personnel Forum. He threw light on genuineness of all the demands and accused the Government of being insensitive towards their issues.
He lamented that despite a High Court order instructing the Home Department to give them the effect of SRO-14, the State Government was not implementing the verdict for the last four years.
Those who attended the protest, included Ajit Singh, Zakir Hussain, Mohd Maqsoon, Hari Singh, Mohd Sharif, Hoshanak Chand Sharma, Rattan Lal Khajuria, Bihari Lal, Jaswant Singh, Madan Lal, Hardev Singh, Ramneek Singh, Bhagil Singh, Gurdev Singh and Sham Sunder Sharma.
