Retd officers demand technocrat from JKGAS as Director Agri

JAMMU, Feb 13: Retired officers of Agriculture/ Horticulture / Floriculture departments have condemned the posting of a non-technical officer as Director Agriculture Jammu and demanded Government to revoke the order and posted a technocrat from J&K Gazetted Agriculture Services (JKGAS) as Director Agriculture Jammu.
SN Sharma, Retired Director Agriculture, speaking in a meeting with the office bearers of the Agriculture Employees Co-ordination Committee (AECC) said that the Planning commission and Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) have issued clear guidelines for manning and heading of the Agriculture Department by the technical experts.
Dr GA Dar, Retired Director Horticulture, said the implementation of various farmers welfare programmes including doubling of farm income more efficiently. He said that the technocrats have specialized knowledge and well versed with the technological aspects of various crops and fruits plants.
JL Sharma, Retired Director Horticulture, KK Sharma, Retired Director Floriculture, Dr SS Jamwal, Retired Director Agriculture, AK Malhotra, Director (retd), Des Raj Bhagat, Retired Joint Director Agriculture, Virinder Kumar Moza, Retired Joint Director Agriculture, DN Mehta, Retired District Officer, spoke on the occasion and condemned the Government order for posting a non-technical director.
Pradeep Sharma, Chairman, AECC, presented the details of the memorandum presented to the Government to revoke the order of posting a non-cadre officer despite availability of so many eligible officers of the Gazetted Agriculture Service in the Department.
