DODA, July 9: A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) was killed, while two others received injuries, when the Swift car they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into Kalnai river at Machipal area, falling under the jurisdiction of Kishtwar police station this afternoon.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AQ 6768 was on its way to Bhaderwah from Gandoh, when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle rolled down into river Kalnai at Machipal near Thathri, resulting into on the spot death of a retired DySP and injuries to two others.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Emergency Hospital Thathri, from where one of the injured persons was referred to District Hospital Kishtwar for advanced treatment.
The body of the deceased identified as Sheikh Hakim Din (retd DySP), son of Ghulam Mustafa Sheikh, a resident of Gatha, Bhaderwah has been handed over to family members after conducting autopsy.
The injured have been identified as Tahir Mehmood, son of Sheikh Hakim Din and Mohammad Ayaz, son of Abdul Hameed, both residents of village Gatha, Bhaderwah.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Kishtwar police station and investigation started.
