Fresh spike in Ladakh, 146 infected
23 from Civil Sectt, 5 IIIM staffers test +ve

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Dec 3: Five persons including a retired Army Colonel died of COVID-19 in Jammu region today and 310 tested positive for the virus including 23 officials from Civil Secretariat and five staff members of IIIM while 242 others recovered from the virus. Kashmir also recorded equal number of fatalities and 272 positive cases.
In the Civil Secretariat, the seat of the Government, 1779 officers and officials were subjected to Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) in Jammu today. Of them, 23 tested positive for the virus, the Health officials said.
Five staff members of IIIM, six members of a family from Sainik Colony including two male children aged 3 and 5 years, five of another family in Durga Nagar and a couple from Bohri also tested positive for pathogen in Jammu today.
Three positive cases were reported from Kot Bhalwal and two each from RS Pura, Dansal and Bishnah.
A 75-year-old Army Colonel from Nanak Nagar in Jammu died of Coronavirus at home.
A 50-year-old man from Sarwal and 65-year-old from village Pardha in Akhnoor tehsil of Jammu district died of COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
A 54-year-old man from Hospital Gali in Udhampur district, who was suffering from psychiatric illness and was positive for the virus also died in the GMC Jammu while 50-year-old-woman, hailing from Semna Colony Kishtwar who had no co-morbidity and was positive for Coronavirus died in the District Hospital Kishtwar.
Five persons who died of COVID-19 in Kashmir include a 52-year-old man from Rambagh, a 75-year-old from Khanyar, a 68-year-old man from Baghat Barzulla and a 64-year-old man from Buchpora area, all in Srinagar district and 55-year-old woman from Aragam area of Bandipora district.
Meanwhile, in fresh spike of Corona cases in the Union Territory of Ladakh, 146 persons have tested positive including 142 in Leh district and four in Kargil taking Corona count to 8623. There are 862 active cases in Ladakh as 7642 others have recovered. There have been 119 Corona fatalities in the UT.
Among 310 COVID positive cases in Jammu region, 142 were reported from Jammu district, 50 Udhampur, 23 Reasi, 22 each Doda and Rajouri, 17 Samba, 15 Ramban, 10 Kathua, seven Kishtwar and two in Poonch district while 242 recovered from the virus including 109 from Jammu, 57 Samba, 28 Doda, 20 Kathua, 16 Udhampur, seven Rajouri and five in Poonch district. No recoveries were reported from Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi districts.
Jammu region now has 45174 Corona cases. Of them, 2465 are active positives while 42106 have recovered from the virus and there have been 603 casualties. The casualties including 307 in Jammu district, 56 Doda, 51 Udhampur, 50 Rajouri, 39 Kathua, 32 Samba, 22 Poonch, 19 Kishtwar, 18 Ramban and nine in Reasi district.
With today’s five deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1115.
Srinagar district with 423 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 163, Budgam 101, Pulwama 86, Kupwara 84, Anantnag 79, Bandipora 52, Kulgam 51, Ganderbal 39 and Shopian 37.
In Kashmir, 272 people tested positive taking the number of positive cases in J&K to 111,712.
Those who tested positive in include 126 Srinagar, 24 Baramulla, 46 Budgam, 17 Pulwama, 10 Kupwara, 8 Anantnag, 12 Bandipora, 14 Ganderbal, 6 Kulgam and 9 from Shopian in Kashmir.
As per officials figures, 23,383 positive cases including 423 deaths and 21,799 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,522 including 163 deaths and 7,120 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,007 including 6,637 recoveries and 101 deaths are from Budgam, 5,144 including 4,897 recoveries and 86 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,234 including 84 deaths and 4,930 recoveries are from Kupwara, 4,579 including 4,370 recoveries and 79 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,457 cases including 4,271 and 52 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,245 including 4,021 recoveries and 39 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,605 including 2,494 recoveries and 51 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,362 including 2,245 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Shopian.
The active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,104 including 2,639 from Kashmir division. With 419 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 104,890 which is 93.89 percent of the total cases.
