NEW DELHI, Feb 12: Heading northwards for the fourth month in a row, retail inflation remained in double digits at 10.79 per cent in January, owing to higher prices of vegetables, edible oil, cereals and protein-based items.
The retail inflation had stood at 10.56 per cent in December, 9.90 per cent in November and 9.75 per cent in October 2012.
All India General (all groups) Consumer Price Index numbers of January 2013 for rural, urban and combined are 127.4, 124.9 and 126.3 respectively, according to an official release here today.
Annual inflation rate based on all India general CPI (Combined) for January 2013 on point to point basis (January 2013 over January 2012) is 10.79 per cent. The corresponding inflation rates (provisional) for rural and urban areas are 10.88 per cent and 10.73 per cent respectively.
Inflation rates (final) for rural, urban and combined for December 2012 are 10.74 per cent, 10.42 per cent and 10.56 per cent respectively.
Provisional annual inflation rates of January 2013 for rural, urban and combined in respect of “food and beverages” are 13.13 per cent, 13.81 per cent and 13.36 per cent respectively.
