JAMMU, Oct 3: Up in arms against unprecedented delay in releasing of salary of Teachers and Masters under SSA, Rehbar-e-Talim Teachers Forum organized a protest demonstration, here today.
The protesters raised slogans against the Education Department and urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene into the matter for getting salary of these teachers released.
Due to the prevailing situation, families of affected teachers are at the verge of starvation and the Government must ensure streamlining of pay system in Education Department, they stressed.
The protesting ReT teachers were addressed by the Forum president Joginder Kumar Digra, Jasmeet Singh Madaan, State president of J&K Teachers Welfare Association and Bua Ditta, organizer J&K United Teachers Federation.
They urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Finance Minister A R Rather to ensure that the pending salary is immediately released so that the teachers may also celebrate festival season.
The speakers also highlighted some other demands like release of 17 percent DA in cash, which is pending since January and July. There is no dearth of funds because the State Government has recently received the grant of Rs 2500 crores from the Central Government for salary and other heads and now there is no reason to hold the much delayed DA installment due to employees, they said.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by Ramesh Sharma, Preet Dutta, Amit Kumar, Sham Sharma, Irfan Mohd, Surinder Dogra, Dalip Kumar, Gurdas Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Jagdev Singh and others.
