Restore working of timber industry: ATIJ

KATHUA, May 12: Association of Timber Industries Jammu (ATIJ) has demanded permission for restoration of working of bend saws and saw mills in Jammu region which are now closed for about last two months.
In a joint statement issued here, today president of the Association, Joginder Singh and its member, Rajesh Mahajan said that 70,000 people in the Jammu region are associated with the timber industry and with its closure they have been put to many hardships. The labour associated with the industry is mainly perturbed as they have lost their livelihood due to the lockdown.
They in an appeal to Lt. Governor J&K, G C Murmu demanded grant of permission to timber industry to run their units in Jammu region by maintaining social distancing and observing other norms made by Government in this regard.
