Restore DMU service

Routine passengers travelling from and to Jammu-Udhampur have been put to inconvenience as the Railway authorities have temporarily suspended the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU)service between Jammu and Udhampur route since December 25. Worst affected are the employees who commute up and down daily between their offices – places of work and homes. It is learnt that the service shall remain suspended for more than two months at least up to March 5 next year which otherwise was making six runs daily between the two stations.
There could be some pressing reasons for the Railways for suspending the service and it is most probably to cater to the huge rush for Mahakumbh scheduled to take place from January 15 to March 4, 2019at Prayagraj , UP. However notwithstanding the probable relocation of the train for Mahakumbh rush of pilgrims, travellers held demonstration at Udhampur Railway station and registered their “strong resentment ” against the decision of the Railway authorities. However, there was no immediate response from the Railway authorities to the concerns of the passengers. Railway Minister PiyushGoyal in the mean time has assured to look into the issue and find out a way out to address the issue which involves huge dependence on this service by the commuters.
