Residents protest, block Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway

DODA, Oct 1: The residents held protest and blocked the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway against the district administration for not taking steps to fish out the body of the accident victim from the river Chenab.
A large number of residents from Phagsoo, Janglewar and Thathri assembled near Janglewar nalla and held protest. They also stopped the vehicular movement by blocking the Botate-Doda-Kishtwar highway.
While speaking, a social worker from Thathri Talib Hussain Bhat said that last week an Alto K10 car plunged into river Chenab, resulting into on the spot death of two persons. Body of an accident victim was recovered, while body of another accident victim namely Saleem Wani, a Government teacher has not been fished out from the river despite lapse of around 5 days, he added.
“No rescue team from the administration had reached the spot till now to fish out the body of the deceased Government teacher from the Chenab river”, he said and demanded immediate deputation of rescue team to fish out the body from the river.
After getting information, SDM Thathri Mohammad Anwar Bandey along with SP Bhaderwah Rajinder Singh rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
