RAMBAN, Jan 10: The inhabitants living in different areas held protest demonstrations at Ramsu and Magarkote against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide uninterrupted power supply to the area.
Amid slogans, the protestors also blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for more around two hours due to which the movement of traffic was effected.
“We are facing immense problems due to the erratic power supply in our areas”, the protesters said.
“For the past sometime there have been frequent cuts in our area. It has become very difficult to spend time during power cuts in chilly conditions. It has become routine now during the summer and winter months”, they stated.
They added that the students who are in the middle of taking various board and university exams suffer the most.
The protesters said that they had many a time approached PDD and administration about the issue but they failed to redress the concern.
Later, some officials from Police Department including SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SHO Ramsu Mohammad Amin reached the spot to pacify protesters and assured them that their grievance will be looked into.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored.
