Residents protest against JPDCL

KATHUA, May 20: The residents of Ward No, 1 Kathua held a protest demonstration against Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (JPDCL) for slapping inflated power bills to consumers.
The protesters led by ex councilor, Taresm Chand raised anti JPDCL slogans and criticized the Corporation for open loot and issuing heavy power tariff bills to poor families who are consuming less than one kilowatt of electricity in a month.
The Corporation issued bills valuing to ten thousand to sixty thousand for a month, whereas in past nine months only Bills amounting to Rs 200 to 300 were issued, they said.
They said it is matter investigation that why Corporation issued such inflated bills to poor people of Ward No 1, Kathua. “If there is any error or clerical mistake in issuing bills, the Corporation needs to rectify them and issue fresh bills of power consumption”.
A team of JPDCL reached on spot and pacified the protestors assuring them that the matter will be sorted out.
