Residents of Sainik Colony demand closure of wine shop

Jammu, Jan 9: A deputation of the residents of Cooperative House Building Society, Sainik Colony, Jammu, met Commissioner Excise to seek his immediate intervention with regard to closing of wine shop adjacent to National Highway, behind Nissan showroom in their area.
The deputation pleaded that in this case norms and procedures have not been observed and said that ‘Shiva Temple’ is less than 100 meters away from the location of the wine shop, ‘Jodhamal Public School’ (co-educational) is very near to the above mentioned wine shop and heavy vehicles (Army and Civil) ply through this way.
Deputation further said that the location will become den of accidents as well they said and added that call centre where 90 percent girls have been working are the main cause of concern.
The residents of Sainik Colony agitated when irresponsible reply was given by the Commissioner that there is no necessity for observance of direction of Supreme Court on the shifting from one place to other.
The Commissioner Excise assured the deputation that he will send a team of officers to examine this case.
Jai Singh (Ex-Chairman Sainik Society) reiterated that residents of Sainik Colony will not allow the wine shop at the said place which is also a violation of norms and directions of Supreme court. Director, B Jamwal, Col Hans Raj, Col Atma Sigh, K S Chib, R.S Manhas, Dy SP (retd) Vijay Choudhary, Capt Harnam Singh, Kuldeep Choudhary, Master A Khajuria, R S Andotra and D R Kapoor also pleaded for the closer of wine shop.
