Residents hold protest over traffic congestion

JAMMU, Nov 16: Continuously facing the jams, the large number of traders and prominent citizens of Jammu West, held a protest demonstration against the negligence of the concerned traffic officials of the department, today.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple, president, Jammu West Assembly Movement said that the traffic officials of the department have badly failed to regulate smooth traffic on the ever busy “Ambphalla- Janipur High Court road resulting in traffic chaos.
Dimple said, that he has sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti through the IG traffic that due to the negligence of the traffic department and the PWD R&B, ERA, JMC accidents are frequently taking place.
He alleged the traffic department is only harassing the general public by imposing fine, challans on the people and lifting their vehicles. People even cannot purchase essential goods and park their cars to purchase the goods.
He added that Government has not constructed any parking place in the markets while traffic police has developed nexus with the minibus drivers and they only complete the fine targets by imposing fine on the innocent private vehicle owners of Jammu city and region.
He demanded construction of the flyovers at Rehari Chungi, Jewel Chowk and the widening of the BC Road besides construction of alternative four way circular road from Ambphalla -Manda to Ban Talab via High Court and Roop Nagar to ease te traffic.
