Residents facing water crisis

KISHTWAR, Apr 10: As the authorities have failed to restore Nai Gad water pipeline most of the areas of District Kishtwar are facing acute water crises.
As per reports, the Nai Gad water pipeline was damaged during recent rains, which hampered the water supply to Kuleed, Panditgam, Zewar, Wasser, Zelana and other areas of the district.
As per locals, after every week the water supply to these localities get stopped for several days together and surprisingly every time they were told that Nai Gad water pipeline has got damaged. In last three months, the consumers of these areas have been supplied drinking water hardly for a fortnight.
The residents alleged that the water tankers are busy in serving influential persons and the common people are totally dependent on hand pumps and springs of adjoining villages.
When contacted XEn Kishtwar Abdul Wahid Zarger said that fresh landslide in Dool area has further damaged the pipeline. The work is going on war footing to repair the damaged pipeline and to restore the regular water supply, he added.
