KATHUA, Feb 23: Former Minister and senior PCC leader, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that reservation to IB people was just an eye-wash and announced for political gains.
While interacting with public in Patyari Brahmana, Ladoli, Sallan and Hiranagar, former Minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today lambasted previous BJP Government for totally neglecting the people residing along International Border .
He termed the announcement of 3% reservation to IB people by present Government as just an eye-wash as he said mere 3% reservation will not solve the problems of nearly 3 lakh people spread over 350 villages along International Border.
Sharma said by this, the Government doesn’t want to solve the basic issue of the border people . He said if the Government is serious about people residing along IB then it should bring them under RBA category, which will open door for the 20% reservation to them and it would provide more job opportunities.
He said due to regular ceasefire violations by Pakistan, lives of the people residing along IB is not smooth and students are the worst sufferers.
People of village Patyari Brahmana, during interaction apprised Dr Manohar Lal of the problems faced by them. They said that the road to their village has not been repaired even once in last 4 -5 years and further complained of unhygienic drinking water due to old and outdated water pipes which flow though drain thus risking their lives. Dr Sharma assured the people that he will take their demands with the administration.
