Republic Day celebrated with patriotic fervour in Ladakh

LEH/KARGIL, Jan 27: Like other parts of the country, 65th Republic Day was also celebrated in Ladakh region with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.
LEH: Chief Executive Councilor, Rigzin Spalbar unfurled the National Tri-colour amidst the gathering of thousands of people and parade contingent of police, paramilitary, NCC and school children at Polo Ground. Before that CEC hoisted the National Flag at Council Secretariat in the presence of all the Executive Councilors, Councilors, ADC Leh and the staff of the Council.
Addressing the gathering at Polo Ground, CEC said, “this is the day to take a pledge to serve our motherland and contribute our part of duty and responsibility for the development and progress of the nation”.
Underlining the achievements of present Council, CEC made a mention about the achievements and initiatives under Ladakh Vision Document 2025 and Ladakh Prospective Plan to lead Leh towards sustainable development.
Amid huge applause, LAHDC’s 2014 “Commendation Certificates” were presented to Prof Jamyang Gyalson in recognition of his lifelong contribution for promotion of Ladakhi Language, Wangail Tsering, Junior Engineer JKPCC for his honesty and lifelong social services in Ladakah region, Mohammad Raza Rafatpa for his lifelong service in promoting traditional Sports Polo in Ladakh, Tsetan Sandup, Master M/s Waris, Nubra, Rigzin Chondol, Master, M/s Skurbuchan and Tundup Tashi, Teacher M/s Urgo, Durbuk for their outstanding performance and innovative skills in the field of education,   Tashi Yangphel, Senior Veterinary Pharmacist, Animal Husbandry Department Leh for his dedicated service for promotion of Cross Breed Jersy in the district, Shams-ud-Din, Senior Veterinary Pharmacist, Animal Husbandry for saving precious livestock during recent Foot & Mouth disease outbreak in Leh, Stanzin Dolkar, FMPHW, Hanu Gongma for conducting a record of sixteen deliveries, Ali Hussain, BCG Technician, SDH, Diskit Nubra for saving precious lives of patients reducing infant and maternal mortality, Tsewang Drojey, Junior Election Assistant, DC, Office, Leh for his untiring performance in Election Section, Chewang Rinchen, Senior Assistant, District Employment, Leh for his sincerity and outstanding performance in public service and Tsering Dorjey Orderly of Council Secretariat for his dedicated service.
Later, CEC distributed prizes to the positions holders in the march past and cultural programme. In the march past, Lamdon Model School Leh bagged first position and in cultural programme M/s Skalzangling bagged first position.
KARGIL: Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalie hoisted the National Flag at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Biamathang and took salute at an impressive march past comprising of contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police, NCC, Army and Civil Band Party and troupes of Government and private schools.
Despite immense cold and freezing temperature of minimum -19.8, thousands of people from the adjoining villages of Kargil gathered at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Biamathang and celebrated the 65th Republic Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety.
Prominent among others present on the occasion, included Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Fida Hussain, Brigadier 121 Infantry Brigade, Superintendent of Police Kargil Sujit Kumar, head of Office AIR Kargil Nissar Naseem, senior civil and Army officers and Councilors of LAHDC, Kargil.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC said that Indian Democracy is that tool which makes the people the most powerful in the system and termed people power as the power of democracy. He appreciated the role played by the Indian Army for bearing this chilling temperature and guarding the borders of the country, especially in difficult and inhospitable conditions and extolled the role of the Army and the security forces for their valor and alertness. He urged the people to uphold the virtues of the age old communal harmony and brotherhood for peace and prosperity of the State.
Later, the CEC distributed prizes and mementos among the contingents and the cultural troupes who participated in the celebrations and certificates amongst the Players in different Sports Category like Taekwondo, Table Tennis etc for representing and excelling at National and International Level Competitions.
Republic Day was also celebrated at Drass, Sankoo, Chiktan, Zanskar and other block headquarters of the district.
