Representatives of LAHDC Kargil, other bodies warn en masse resignation

JAMMU, Apr 12: All elected representatives in Kargil including Hill Council, Panches, Sarpanches & members of Municipal Committee have warned to go for mass resignation if their three point demands were not fulfilled.

This was stated in a handout issued here, today by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil which was signed by the representatives of other elected bodies. It said the meeting in this regard was held in the chamber of Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil which was attended by president, Municipal Committee, Kargil and president and general secretary, Panchayat Coordination Committee, Kargil. The meeting warned that in case their demands were not settled the representatives of all democratically elected bodies will resign en masse.
They have demanded evacuation of pilgrims who have completed their quarantine period and the remaining pilgrims be brought back from Iran, evacuation of students and other citizens from outside UT and permission for stranded passengers to move within UT, unrestricted supply of essential commodities via Zojila, keeping in view the fact that nowhere in the country the National Highway is restricted for regular traffic. They demanded Zojila be opened for all kinds of vehicular movement.
The meeting also demanded that the quarantine facilities be given at various levels by pooling in the combined resources of all the democratic institutions. It said keeping in view the coming holy month of Ramzan the demands be settled within one week after which the elected representatives of the district should not be held responsible for any kind of law and order problems.
