Removing tinted films

Removing tinted films
Division Bench of the State High Court has taken a serious view of non-compliance with the Supreme Court order by the Jammu Traffic Police  in which traffic authorities have been directed to remove tinted films from both private and public vehicles. According to informed sources there are about ten lakh vehicles in the State out of which tinted films have been removed in 6000 public or private vehicles, mostly cars. The Supreme Court has found reasons why tinted films should not be allowed. Foremost is the reason of security. J&K State is one of the states where security issue is uppermost. One fails to understand why the traffic police have not shown due respect to the orders of the Supreme Court. Ordinarily it is this state that should have implemented the orders fully within few days.
It needs to be emphasized that generally the vehicles carrying VIPs are using tinted films and just because they are VIPs, the traffic police do not stop them and ask them to remove it. Ordinary people who find that the traffic police are soft peddling with the VIPs in this matter naturally argue with the traffic police about making discrimination. The remedy, therefore, is that either the Government should declare that persons with Z security or high security are exempted from the rule and thus can use tinted film vehicles. Alternatively the order should be implemented universally for the ordinary person or for the VIP vehicle. As long as the police indulge in discriminatory treatment, the order of the Supreme Court may not be implemented in letter and in spirit. VIPs should voluntarily ask the traffic authorities to remove the tinted films from their vehicles just to set an example.
