JAMMU, Feb 22: State Government Employees’ Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) has urged the State Government to solve employees’ pending demands like removal of pay anomalies, regularization of daily rated/ consolidated workers and increase in the Medical allowance and retirement age.
On the initiative of SGEJAC a meeting of many trade union leaders and representatives of EJAC was held here today. Sushil Sudan, Suresh Sharma, Subash Verma, Babu Hussain Malik and others shared the dais. The speakers during the meeting stressed for forging unity among various groups of employees, especially in Jammu region at the first instance to resolve the pending issues of the State employees. They said it was urgent need to have unity among the employees of the State so that desired results could be achieved.
They also formed a core group which will go into details and work for the unity at various levels. The group would establish contact with various unions and organizations of the employees for bringing them at one platform. The leadership also issued appeal to all the trade unions to shun ego, if any, and get united so that a decisive struggle is launched. They further extended invitation to all the right thinking trade union leaders to attend a general meeting of the employees at Town Hall Jammu on March 5 at 11 am and present their view point.
The general demands discussed in the meeting included regularisation of all type of daily rated workers, removal of pay anomalies, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years and Medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000.
