JAMMU, Feb 22: An inspiring National Science Day was celebrated in GGM Science College Jammu in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology J&K Government and Society for Popularization of Science, Jammu wherein SP Vaid, Additional Director General of Police was the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering the chief guest impressed upon the students to pursue Science with the objective of joining the elite class of scientist of International repute. He dwelt at length on how science has transformed the lives of common man and much needed role that science can play in conserving the quality of the environment.
On this occasion, RS Jasrotia, Conservator of Forests, in his invited lecture on Science and Climate change spoke at length on the impact of changes in climate due to faulty agriculture practices, misuse of energy and comfort giving life style.
Earlier, in his welcome address Dr N K Resutra, Nodal Principal, GGM Science College, Jammu advised the students to develop scientific temper to be rational and analytical in their approach.
Dr BL Koul, President of the Society deliberated in detail how scientific knowledge can bring about societal development.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Ashok Kumar, Dr Ravinder Tickoo, Dr R S Jamwal, Dr P Bambroo, faculty members, and students.
The voter of thanks was presented by Dr P Bambroo. The programme was compered by Monica Bhau and Sanjay Sharma.
