Religions seek salvage of human beings from evils: Omar

JAMMU, June 23: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah  said that reformers and religious scholars have always sought salvage of human beings from all evils and sins to create a society embedded with high principals of humanism, love and brotherhood.
“All religions want to inculcate and nurture the spirit of humanism in mankind”, he said, adding that the great preachers and scholars of different faiths have always worked to develop a society where human beings live in an atmosphere of love and peace.
Addressing a congregation of followers of Sant Kabir organised by All J&K Megh Sudhar Sabha on the occasion of Kabir Jayanti here this afternoon, the Chief Minister referred to the endeavour of Sant Kabir to reform people and make them true human beings.
Omar Abdullah said that Sant Kabir in his simple and straight artistic expressions narrated the high values of humanities and truthfulness and stressed on the need to peep into once own-self to find personal faults and short comings rather than looking towards others to find wrongs in them.
“If all of us would look for our own short comings and correct these without searching faults in others, we could give rise to a healthy society”, Omar Abdullah said adding that Sant Kabir’s teachings for unity of all human beings and creeds and his equal love for the followers of all faiths has made him adorable, respectful and loveable for all.
The Chief Minister said that his Government is committed to the equitable and inclusive development of all sections of the society and assured Kabir Samaj that the memorandum of demands presented by their leaders on the occasion would be given due consideration. He said, he would ask the Planning Minister to look into the demand of the Samaj regarding the construction of community hall and find out possibilities of helping its early completion.
The Chief Minister said that his government has declared Kabir Jayanti a restricted holiday and accepted the cherished desire of Kabir Samaj which was advocated by it during the tenure of various Governments. “My Government has declared Kabir Jayanti a restricted holiday and your demand to declare it a gazetted holiday would also be given due consideration”, he said.
Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra and Legislator and Provincial President NC Jammu, Devender Singh Rana and ex Minister Ram Paul accompanied the CM.  The president of the Sabha M R Bhagat also spoke on the occasion.
The Kabir Jayanti was also celebrated with full religious fervour and gaiety by All J&K Shri Sad Guru Kabir Sabha today.
On the occasion, religious procession along with various Jankies and followers of Bhagat Kabir from all over the Jammu Province participated. The procession started from Satwari Chowk and slogans of “Jai Kabir Dhan Kabir’’ rent the air.
The procession was led by Mula Ram, Ex-Minister,  F. C. Bhagat president of the Sabha and they were accompanied by G.R. Bhagat  its senior vice president, Prof. G.R. Bhagat, MLA R.S. Pura,  K.C. Bhagat MLA Chenani, MLC Sham Lal Bhagat,  R.C. Bhagat ex-MLA,  J.L. Bhagat, Vice President Prof. Ashok Bhagat,  Madan Lal, Vice President, Dr. Gurdass Ram, Chairman Litigation Committee, and district presidents. The procession comprised of over 700 vehicles including buses, minibuses, tractor trolleys, light vehicles and motorcyclist. It passed through Main Stop, Gandhi Nagar, Vikram Chowk, Jewel Chowk, KC Morh, Shakuntla and Amphalla Chowk towards, Sad Guru Kabir Temple Janipur, here. The Sangat enroute chanted Bhajan Kirtan.
After paying obeisance to Kabir Ji Maharaj, the religious discourses were delivered by Dina Nath Ji, disciple of late Chandi Ram Ji (Punjabwalle).
While speaking on the occasion the President moved a resolution demanding Kabir Jayanti as gazette holiday.
Bhagat Mahasabha J&K unit organized a state level function for celebration Prakash Utsav of Sant Kabir here at Parade Ground in which a large number of devotees of Sant Kabir from different parts of the State and neighboring states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan participated.
They paid their obeisance to great Sant of Bakti Movement. People from the different areas reached at Parade Ground in the shape of jhankies by chanting slogan and bhajans of Sant Kabir . A  Satsang and Kirtan was also held on the occasion by swami Milkhi Ram Bhagat Gorday Walay , while singing the Sabad Dohe and Sakhian of Sadguru Kabir Saheb Ji ,Swami Ji asked the Sangat to fallow the teaching of Sant Kabir as only his teachings can bring Megh community out of backwardness & darkness. He asked Megh community to shun bad habits and evils in the society.
The family members of Saheed Bhagat Amar Nath Ji were special invitees Prof. Raj Kumar Bhagat national president Bhagat Mahasabha was the chief guest.  He appealed the people of Megh Samaj to unite on the one platform for proper upliftment of Samaj.  Bodh Raj Bhagat national vice president Bhagat Mahasabha also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Minister for PHE, Irrigation Flood & Control, Sham Lal Sharma today said that   India is an abode of Saints and Rishis where people belonging to different religious and speaking various languages have been living in peace and tranquility since centuries.
The Minster was speaking at a function organised in connection with Kabir Jayanti by the Kabir Sabha Aknoor.
The President of Kabir Sabha, Ram Saran Bhagat, besides a large number of locals were present on the occasion.
