JAMMU, Oct 11: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has urged upon the State Government to release VAT refund worth Rs 60 crore without any delay, which is due from SICOP for the last about two years.
In a meeting of the Association held at BBIA Bhawan, Bari Brahmana here today under the chairmanship of Annil Suri, its president, the members strongly projected the demand of release of Rs 60 crore as VAT refund amount, due for the last two years. They pointed out that SICOP has failed to clear the pending VAT refund of the industrialists.
The BBIA further demanded that all the payments held up in various State Government Departments against the supply of industrial products also be cleared. They further stressed for the clearance of all the cheques, pending in the Government Treasuries. They said with the non-clearance of pending cheques, the industrialists are suffering.
Mr Suri stressed upon the need to immediately put in place the already announced cash less system for VAT refund through SICOP. He said that for further sustaining the existing limping J&K Industry and in order to make the trade and industry survive, the immediate infusion of liquidity and retaining whatever is available in the system to allow the business to rebuild themselves, it is requested to the Chief Minister to kindly issue directions for the redderessal of these issues.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included Rakesh Bhat, Rahul Bansal, Lalit Mahajan and Sidharath Dogra besides other members of BBIA.
