Release ration to migrants: JTC

JAMMU, Mar 30: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) has demanded immediate release of ration in favour of the displaced Pandits putting up in various camps and non camp localities of Jammu.
Talking to reporters here, today JTC chief Shadi Lal Pandita said that since the Community has not been rehabilitated permanently as such it does not come under the purview of NFSA so Government should immediately release ration in favour of the migrants at the previous scales of 9 KG rice per soul with two Kg Atta and one kg Sugar.
The supply of ration has been kept with held since February 2016 leading to many hardships of migrants as some of the families are also at the verge of starvation because they are unable to feed themselves with meager cash assistance.
JTC made an appeal to Governor, N N Vohra in this regard and sought his personal intervening in the matter for ensuring release of ration in favour of the migrants as per previous scales of nine Kg rice and two Kgs of Atta per soul and one Kg Sugar per family.
It also made an appeal for the permanent rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandit community in Valley by raising Satellite townships at one safe and secure place.
Mr. Pandita has further said that since the Kashmiri migrants have suffered huge loss due to damages to their properties in Valley during past 27 years as such compensation @ Rs.3.00 lacs per year needs to be sanctioned and released in favour of each and every migrant family besides on spot recruitment in police and para military forces, implementation of PM package, enhancement of relief and creation of class fourth posts for those youth who could not continue their education.
Meanwhile All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) chief Desh Rattan has also warned agitation in case immediate steps were not taken to solve the long standing issues of migrants. He said the community is being misled over the release of ration as CAPD authorities have categorically said that they have no instructions of releasing ration as per old scale to migrants. He said non supply of ration has led to starvation of various displaced families and in case the demand was not settled immediately the AMCCC will be forced to hold demonstration. He said a delegation of the organization will also leave for Union Capital to take up the issue with Central Government.
