UDHAMPUR, Aug 2: Senior trade union leader and leader of Jal Shakti/ PHE employees and Workers Association, Som Nath has demanded release of pending wages of PHE workers, implementation of Minimum Wages Act in J&K and regularisation of the daily wagers without any more delay.
Addressing the media persons after a symbolic protest here today Som Nath, flanked by other members strongly criticized the attitude of UT Govt for deliberately delaying the pending genuine demands of the daily wagers. He said the commitment made by the senior officials were never fulfilled. They every time befooled the innocent workers.
The higher authorities have failed to release pending wages ( From 2014 to 2020) and implement Minimum Wages Act. The five member committee headed by Chief Secretary has also failed to provide justice to the aggrieved workers. The Ladakh UT Administration & J&K UT are equal to same power of LG but the LG of UT Ladakh solved the issues of daily wagers but the J&K UT LG has done nothing on ths same issue.
The daily wagers had high hope from the popular Govt led by Omar Abdullah . but this Government has also done nothing so far for the resolution of these issues. He strongly demanded that Minimum Wages Act be implemented in JKUT and all the pending wages of the PHE workers be released.
Som Nath also demanded regularization of the daily wagers/ CP/ITI/ land case workers of the Jal Shakti Department by framing a definite policy. He said there is acute shortage of workers in the department and the vacant posts be filled up.
The private workers are running the water supply schemes. The JJM schemes will not run without workers due to which these schemes are not running. Som Nath appealed to the Govt to create a regularization policy in favour of daily wagers as soon as possible.
Senior leaders who also spoke on the occasion included -Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Sham Singh, Ganesh Chand, Sham Lal, Vinod Kumar, Karan Singh, Mohan Singh and others.
