JAMMU, Mar 2: Carrying ‘save our children’ placards, many parents of students stuck in war-torn Ukraine’s Kharkiv city staged a protest here today and appealed to the Union Government to immediately evacuate the stranded students.
One of the protesters told reporters that his daughter Diksha Khanna has been stuck in Kharkiv and she was safeguarding herself in a bunker under her flat along with her friends for the last 4-5 days as there is continuous firing and shelling in the area.
“Yesterday a missile hit some 5 kms away from her flat and we can’t imagine the hardship they are facing,” he said appealing Indian Government to evacuate these children via Russian border which is nearest to Kharkiv so that they can reach home safely.
He appealed Indian Government to take immediate action and bring the stuck students back to India.

“I have called Indian embassy in Ukraine and also at RSS office and they said that they were doing it,” he maintained.
Another protester said that his son was pursuing studies at Kharkiv National Medical University and is stranded there along with others.
Still another protester Rajinder Paul Singh said there is snow and they are fearful for the lives of their children who have been in a miserable condition for the past seven days.
He urged the Government to bring their children back.
