Rehman, Pro-VC CUJ, SP Reasi call on Vohra

JAMMU, Jan 16: Kafeel-ur-Rehman, Vice- Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People, accompanied by members of the Board, Mushtaq Bukhari, Nasir Rahi, Mirza Abdul Rashid and Naseer Khan called on N.N Vohra, Governor, here at Raj Bhavan today.
During meeting with the Governor, Mr. Rehman complained about the prolonged delay in the grant of Scheduled Tribe Status to Pahari Speaking People. The delegation requested the Governor to remind the Government of India about this matter. The Governor agreed to once again take up this long pending demand with the Central authorities.
Professor Rajive Gupta, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu also called on Mr Vohra, who is the Chancellor of the Central University. This was his first meeting with the Governor after assuming charge as Pro-Vice Chancellor.
Professor Gupta briefed the Governor about the to date status of infrastructure and faculty development programmes, the courses so far established and the plans for admissions at the next Academic Session.
Vivek Gupta, Superintendent of Police, Reasi district also called on Mr. Vohra.
Mr. Gupta briefed the Governor about the overall law and order situation in Reasi district and the security arrangements put in place for the pilgrimage to the Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, including the Railway Station Katra which will shortly become operational.
The Governor advised Mr. Gupta to regularly monitor the security arrangements for the pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and particularly ensure that CCTV cameras were very early made functional along the entire route to the Shrine as well as in Katra town.
