This has reference to the Sunday Magazine article ‘After the Floods’ DE Dec 14.
The measures to provide relief to flood hit victims in Poonch and Rajouri got slightly set back due to State Assembly elections that got over on Dec 20.
The new dispensation and the agencies involved in providing relief to flood hit people should expedite their efforts. Winter is at its peak. The flood-hit victims have not yet come to terms with life. The people will have to start life afresh and that needs Government support whole-heartedly. These victims are a shattered lot. They have lost their nears and dears. Cattle homes, land, and above all peace and happiness.
The Government has to ensure that each affected family gets duly compensated, and the relief material that has been collected in their name be provided to them.
