Regularise daily wagers, temporary workers: Ex-MLA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 8: Former legislator from Billawar and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has urged upon the Government to regularize daily wagers and all the contractual/ temporary workers.
In a press statement here the Congress leader strongly criticized the anti- employ policies of BJP- PDP Government. He said after the formation of Coalition Government in J&K state, the approach of the Government seems to have turned anti- employ and anti- youth. The daily wagers/casual labours, ITI and CP workers are staging protests since long but nobody in Govt bothers. The Government has failed to provide monthly remuneration/wages to these workers since long.
Dr Sharma said thousands of daily wagers/casual labours, CP and ITI workers are working tirelessly in the PHE Department, PDD, PWD, RDD, Forest, Tourism, Fisheries’ etc for more than ten to 15 years on nominal remunerations which they get off and on due to the lack of funds in concerned departments. It is very unfortunate that State Government is non-serious to address their genuine demands.
The recent ongoing agitation of PDD daily wagers and casual labourers is the outcome of the false promises made by BJP leadership during last time to lift the dharna but nothing has been done so far.
Dr Sharma supported the genuine demands of the PDD and PHE daily wagers who are striving hard and sitting on dharna in Jammu and asked Government to regularize all daily wagers/casual labours, CP workers and ITI workers who have completed seven years in service.
