Registration of Amarnath pilgrims begins

JAMMU, Feb 29: The Registration for annual Amaranth pilgrimage, for the year 2016, started at 432 bank branches, all over the country today.
According to Jitender Singh, Deputy CEO Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) the registration started at 432 bank branches in 32 States and UTs all over the country from today. Besides, the J&K Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Yes Bank have been designated for registration of pilgrims.
Mr Singh said 15000 pilgrims will be allowed to perform darshan daily from two tracks to holy cave i .e  7500 pilgrims from traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal track respectively. The 48 day yatra will commence on July 2 and culminate on Sawan Purnima coinciding with Raksha Bandan on August 18.
He however could not disclose the total number of pilgrims registered on the first day of registration today saying that the figures are complied by banks next day and same can be confirmed tomorrow.
