Refresher Course in Life Sciences concludes at JU

JAMMU, Nov 27: Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof RD Sharma said that the teachers are the important components of an educational system and they should upgrade their knowledge so that the same is disseminated to the students.
He said this during valedictory function of the 18-days Refresher Course in the Faculty of Life Sciences. He exhorted upon the young teachers to persistently and continuously broaden their horizon and get benefited by such type of courses.
Prof Sharma said that such courses should not be taken only as eligibility requirement for promotion, adding that from time to time teachers should gets themselves evaluated by the students by the way of feedback.
He asked the young faculty members to focus on excellent research and teaching in their respective disciplines and also emphasized that the teacher must imbibe the values like hard work, dedication, devotion and integrity in order to become the role model for the students. He asked the participants not to be distracted from their goal, which, he said, is excellent teaching and research.
While pursuing research, one should be fearless, confident and take healthy criticism in stride, he underlined.
VK Sambyal, Station Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu asked the participant to make the proper use of the Refresher Course by disseminating whatever they have learned over these 18 days.
Prof Geeta Sumbli, Convenor, Board of Studies in Botany in her address expressed the hope that the teachers must have definitely augmented their existing knowledge during this course.
Prof Naresh Padha, Director, HRDC in his address said that these types of courses provide the participants an opportunity for getting themselves updated in their concerned area.
Earlier in his welcome address, Course Coordinator, Prof Yashpal Sharma, Head, Department of Botany of the University outlined the contents of the course taken up during the 18 days in brief.
On the occasion, the participants of the course also expressed their views and expressed satisfaction over the overall conduct of the course.
Later, the certificates were also given away to the participants.
In the end, Ranjit Kalra, Asstt Director, HRDC presented vote of thanks.
