JAMMU, Feb 28: With an objective to protect economically weak women and school going girls from the risk of sanitation related diseases and other complications, Indian Red Cross Society Jammu team distributed sanitary nepkins/pads among the girl students of Govt Higher Secondary School Khour.
The team led by Secretary Indian Red Cross Society Jammu, Sat Pal Sharma and his female staff including Dr Aasia Noor, Pharmacists distributed the sanitary napkins among the Higher Secondary students of border town of Khour in Jammu district. He said that this campaign will continue for some more weeks in other areas as well.
Dr Noor also educated the girl students and stressed the need of using menstrual hygiene products. She said women and especially school girls in India face the daunting task of maintaining their sanitary health. This exposes economically weak women and girls to a high risk of sanitation related diseases and other complications. Moreover, such products are not easily available in the remote and far off areas.
Considering all these challenges Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region is constantly working on spreading awareness about the use of sanitary pads and conducting its free distribution. About 500 students of Higher Secondary School Khour were also given knowledge about First-Aid in case of any emergency.
