JAMMU, Jan 10: As winter chill turns harsh with each passing day, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT is spreading warmth among the less privileged people of the society by carrying on blanket distribution drive to protect them from severe cold during night.
Various relief distribution activities are being carried out throughout the year under the guidance of Lt. Governor (President Indian Red Cross Society, J&K) and under the supervision of Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K-UT but blanket distribution is the most virtuous initiative.
Blankets, a fundamental necessity during cold weather, become a source of solace and protection for those who may not have access to adequate shelter or heating. Besides this, Red Cross is also providing free tea services in the morning to the patients and their attendants in GMC Jammu outside its Emergency Ward.
Blanket distribution was carried out in areas of Gandhi Nagar, Vikram Chowk, Bus Stand, Railway Station etc. The objective of the initiative was to provide immediate help by way of giving some relief to the needy people to protect themselves from this extreme cold wave, particularly during night hours.
These initiatives not only address immediate needs but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community by promoting compassion, solidarity, and humanitarian values.
