Red Cross celebrates ‘World First Aid Day’

JAMMU, Sept 12: Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region in collaboration with St John Ambulance Association, Regional Centre, Jammu today celebrated ‘World First Aid Day’ here at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni.
On this day, Red Cross organized a first aid training programme for the VLWs/ MPWs of Rural Development Department and Commercial Vehicle drivers. The training was given by a team of doctors which included Dr Sudershan Gupta, Ex-Prof and HoD of Anesthesia and Dr Akshay Gupta, Senior Orthopedician, Consultants of Swami Vivekanand Hospital Jammu, Dr Rajinder Thappa, Causality Medical Officer, SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr Rohini Bhan, Medical Officer, Dr Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer of Red Cross Dispensary and Dr ML Sharma.
The main objective of the First Aid Training programme was to make every one aware how to protect themselves during accidents, border firing and how to provide immediate First Aid to the sufferers during natural calamities, accidents and disasters.
RC Puri, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, threw light on the importance of First Aid Training and impressed upon the First Aid Trainees to help the needy at the time of any emergency by providing First Aid.
