Srinagar, Sept 12: Police today arrested a Numberdar over assaulting a female Panch in Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police officer said that the Numberdar identified as Mohammad Maqbool Sheikh was arrested after a woman Panch , Shamim Bano, lodged a complaint against him over assaulting her.
“The lady complained that the accused thrashed her after a verbal brawl broke out between the two over a ration card,” he said, adding that the police have registered a case under FIR number 287 under sections 354, 341 and 323.
The accused Numberdar has been lodged in Police Post Kakapora.
