Recruit tribal youth in Army to combat terrorism: Poswal

NEW DELHI, Aug 12: Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal BJP leader and national executive member ST Morcha today urged Manohar Parrikar, Defence Minister to hold a special recruitment drive in bordering Karnah constituency of Kupwara district in a bid to counter terrorism in the State.
“Recruitment of jobless youths in Karnah constituency near Line of control (LoC) will help a great deal in combating cross-border violence attempted by Pakistan backed terrorists. A large number of youth are jobless in this ignored constituency and their services should be utilized for safeguarding the borders from enemy,” Poswal told the Defence Minister during a meeting.
Poswal said the Defence Minister assured him that he will consider the recruitment of youth in Army in border town to address joblessness and strengthen the borders. The BJP leader said that he discussed prevailing cross-border violence with the Minister.
“Parrikar Sahab assured me that he will actively consider the suggestion of holding a recruitment drive in the border town. He is serious in addressing the problems of youths and restore permanent peace especially on borders,” Poswal added.
Poswal said that a threadbare discussion was held over recent infiltration attempts near LoC in Karnah and Keran sectors of frontier Kupwara district.
