Record 50 PoK guests arrive, 5 Kashmiris cross over to other side of LoC

SRINAGAR: Despite tension on the Line of Control (LoC) following ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops, highest number of 50 guests from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (POK) arrived here today, while five Kashmiris crossed over to the other side in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad.

As many as 17 people returned to the other side of the LoC this evening at the Kaman Post in Uri sector, official sources told UNI. They said 50 PoK residents, including 15 women and 19 children, arrived at Kaman Post after crossing the Aman Setu peace bridge, on foot to meet their relatives, separated in 1947.

This was the highest number of PoK guests during this year so far. The number of guests coming from PoK goes up in during the summer while it decreases considerably during winter months.

Five Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK to meet their relatives in the previous buses, also returned home after completing their stay there. They included two women.  (AGENCIES)
