Reasi MVD cracks down on traffic violations, imposes Rs 1.47 crore fine

REASI, May 14: In a major enforcement action aimed at strengthening road safety and curbing traffic violations, the Motor Vehicles Department Reasi has taken strict action against violators across the district over the past year.

Addressing a press conference, ARTO Reasi Nasir Khan shared detailed figures related to enforcement activities carried out from April 1, 2025 to the end of April 2026.
According to the data released by the department, as many as 328 Driving Licences (DLs), 641 Registration Certificates (RCs), and 22 Route Permits (RPs) were suspended for various violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. During the same period, the department issued 3,519 e-challans and imposed fines amounting to nearly Rs 1.47 crore.
Highlighting the administration’s intensified action against drug abuse and illegal activities, the ARTO informed that under the NDPS Act, 36 Driving Licences and 33 Registration Certificates were also suspended for involvement in narcotics-related cases. ARTO Reasi said the enforcement drive is part of the Government’s broader initiative to ensure safer roads, disciplined driving, and zero tolerance towards violations linked to public safety and drug abuse. He emphasized that the department will continue its strict monitoring and enforcement measures in coordination with other agencies to maintain law and order on roads.
He also appealed to the public, especially motorists and transport operators, to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and contribute towards building a safer and responsible transport system in the district.
