JAMMU, Feb 4: Some civil society members today demanded realignment of Metro route passing through Jammu city.
A delegation of civil society members today visited EXCELSIOR office and raised the issue. The delegation requested to the J&K administration and concerned authorities to re-align the metro route alleging that the proposed alignment of the Metro passes through congested residential area and market.
“If the proposed route is approved, the Government will have to acquire residential houses and commercial complexes and demolished all of them,” the delegation said, adding, some of the houses and business houses established are on Nazool/Auquaf land and therefore their owners would get no compensation and would be rendered homeless.
The delegation members said those who have taken shops on premium on the proposed Metro route, shall also be dislocated and get no compensation, which will only add miseries to their lives.
“It is requested that the alignment of the Metro route should be along National highway so that no acquisition needs to be done and no structure needs to be demolished, thus saving many from being homeless and jobless,” the delegation said.
