RDD Secy calls on CEC, ECs; reviews progress on schemes

KARGIL, July 6: Secretary Rural Development Department and Panchayat Raj, Sheetal Nanda during her five-day visit of Ladakh Division today called on the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan and the Executive Councillors at Tourist Facilitation Centre.
Executive Councillor for Rural Development Er Phunsog Tashi, Executive Councillor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba, Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abbass, , Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Director Rural Development Kashmir Qazi Sarwar, Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil Imteeaz Kacho, District Panchayat Officer Shabir Hussain, Executive Engineer REW Gulzar Hussain Munshi besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the implementation of RDD schemes in the district. The need for coordination and integration between the Councillors of LAHDC and Panchayat members for effective implementation of developmental programmes and welfare schemes on ground was highlighted during the meeting. A mechanism for participation of Councillors in the Gram Sabhas was also suggested.
The CEC Kargil highlighted the issue pertaining to the shortage of BDOs in various blocks of the district and sought the intervention of the Secretary RDD in this regard.
The Secretary RDD assured the CEC that necessary steps would be taken to ensure that the shortage of BDOs is resolved by filling up of the posts on additional charge basis as an immediate measure followed by the appointment of junior scale KAS officers in due course of time.
Meanwhile, the Secretary also convened a meeting to review progress of various ongoing RDD projects in the district.
The meeting took comprehensive stock of various schemes of the department in the district including MGNREGA, PMAY (Gramin), SBM, job cards etc.
The Secretary RDD directed fast pacing of the implementation of various departmental schemes so that the socio-economic landscape of the rural areas gets the requisite fillip.
While reviewing other schemes of the department, Nanda exhorted upon the officers to adhere strictly to set guidelines thereby ensuring that the schemes are effectively implemented on ground.
The Secretary was briefed about the physical and financial achievements registered by the department under works related to natural resource management, individual assets for vulnerable sections, rural infrastructure, payment of wages, estimation status of SECURE, geo-tagging on Phase I and II, status of GIS Plan and action taken on Social Audit Report.
Meanwhile, the Secretary RDD also inspected several ongoing works like construction of footpath and de-silting tanks, sanitary complexes and other public utilities in various blocks of the district including Pashkum and Sodh.
