RBI organizes Banking Ombudsman Awareness Programme

JAMMU, Mar 29: Reserve Bank of India in collaboration with Rotary Club of Jammu City and All India Institute of Local Self Government, organized an interactive awareness program on “Office of Banking Ombudsman Jammu (BOS)”, also named as Kendriya Lokpal Karyalaya.
The RBI has introduced Banking Ombudsman Scheme (BOS) to facilitate quick, fair and cost free redressal of complaints against Commercial Banks, Scheduled Primary Co-op Banks and Regional Rural Banks on deficiencies in banking services of any sort.
The program was focused on presentations on the Banking Ombudsman Jammu to address common causes of grievances as regards to banking services and awareness/precautions warranted thereabout etc.
Secretary BOS, H S Verma gave an in depth knowledge to the audience about “How to be vigilant while doing ecommerce transactions and using their ATM debit or credit cards in daily routines. At the same time he also gave a valuable suggestion of creating a small e wallet like Paytm for daily small transaction rather than exposing your main account online while executing such transactions. He said “This way your account is safe from fraudsters as your only using small amount e wallet and can replenish as and when required”.
President Rotary Club of Jammu City,   Anil Swaraj appealed to all the leaders, prominent citizens and others to spread this message all across the society so that the account holders of all the banks can come forward fearless to lodge their grievances against their bankers pertaining to their interest, minimum balances and other charges, dispute through e commerce and ATM transactions etc.
Banking Ombudsman and Head of the office, P Shimrah spoke on “How to create effective financial budgets and financial planning for oneself”. He gave very live examples of holistic approach towards managing individual’s money and assets” He took up question and answer session too.
