JAMMU, May 22: A Customer Service meeting of the Foreign Exchange Department, Reserve Bank of India for Jammu and Kashmir was held today at RBI office Srinagar under the chairmanship of D K Kashyap, Deputy General Manager, incharge Foreign Exchange Department J&K.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Customs and Central Excise, Jayapal J, IRS Vikas Deshmukh, Representative of ECGC, senior officers of the Authorised Dealers (ADs) operating in Jammu and Kashmir, FFMCs and sizeable number of forex customers.
In his key note address DK Kashyap highlighted the importance of organizing these meetings and dwelt at length the role and responsibilities of the Authorized Dealers in meeting the genuine requirement of Forex users within the provisions of Foreigh Exchgange Management Act (FEMA), 1999. He exhorted the Authorized Dealers to educate their customers about various facilities available to exporters, importers, traverlers, businessmen, tourists etc without contravening the provisions of FEMA, 1999. He also discussed latest developments in the arena of foreign exchange regulation which sought to align the regulatory requirements with the market demands while ensuring hassle free services to the customer.
Anil Reshi, Manager RBI Jammu, discussed current issues related to trade that has been engaging attention of ADs and RBI alike. He emphasized that customers should freely express their difficulties so that regulatory interventions can be brought in wherever necessary. Customers shared their experiences and also raised queries which were answered by the ADs.
