JAMMU, Feb 9: Demanding separate board on the pattern of SC/ST/OBC Advisory Boards, Reserved Backward Area (RBA) community people held a protest demonstration here today. RBA community people including women and their children led by Kewal Sharma, social activist and Rajesh Thappa, former general secretary, Bar Association Jammu assembled outside Press Club and raised slogans against the Government for not conceding their demands. The speakers alleged that the successive rulers of the State have resolved the issue of other reserved categories while RBA category was ignored. Rajesh Thappa in his speech said that the if a RBA girl marries to a RBA person, she has to wait for 15 years to get RBA category certificate as per existing laws, which is injustice with the RBA community people. Criticizing Government policies, Thappa said that Government on the one hand offer facilities like voter card, State Subject, etc for its political vested interest but denies women folk by their social rights. Kewal Sharma said that lakh of RBA category women living in more than 2200 villages across the State are deprived of their rights of equality and justice. Besides separate board on the pattern of SC/ST/OBC Advisory Board, Kewal Sharma also demanded enhancement of income slabs from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh. He urged the MLAs to highlight the plights of the RBA community people in the forthcoming assembly session starting from tomorrow. Among others present were Avtar Krishen, Prithvi Singh, DN Sharma, Nek Ram, OM Parkash, Sham Lal and TN Ganjoo.
