POONCH, Feb 13: It may sound amazing to many but it is true that R&B Department of J&K UT has failed to complete just 3 kms road even afer 10 long years.
Since independence villagers from Maharkote in tehsil Mandi of district poonch are craving for proper road connectivity. The road work was started in 2009 but just 3 km road could not be completed even after ten years.
The PW(R&B) Department started work on 3 km road stretch from Brachar to Maharkote but the road is still incomplete. It is lying in dilapidated and the people cannot even walk over it, the locals said.
The students have to walk several kilometers everyday to attend their schools, the locals said adding that even patients have to travel the distance in traditional palki (cot).
The locals said that politicians who visit the area during elections promised a lot but delivered nothing. Around 15000 souls still use the traditional trekking routes to reach the destination.
Sensing that the local politicians have failed to address their problems, the aggrieved people have now appealed to the Lt Governor and the DDC Poonch to ensure proper road link for the 15000 souls.
The people urged upon the Lt Governor and Distt Administration to review the progress on this road and fix responsibility on those who fail to complete the work on time.
