Ravinder selected for JRF by Union Culture Ministry

JAMMU, Jan 23: Ravinder Sharma, a distinguished theatre director, actor and writer with over two decades of dedication to the performing arts, has been selected for the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) 2022-23 by the Union Ministry of Culture.
Sharma’s research topic, “Theatre as a Part of School Curriculum”, aims to explore the integration of theatre into education, highlighting its potential to foster creativity, confidence and holistic learning among students.
He has directed over 50 acclaimed plays, including adaptations of timeless classics such as The Bacchae, Othello, King Lear, The Refund, Final Solutions, and The Tempest. He has participated in more than 400 stage performances across India. His repertoire includes celebrated productions like Hamlet, Oedipus Rex, Antigone, Abhigyan Shakuntalam, The Trojan Women and Dak Ghar.
Over the years, Ravinder’s remarkable contributions to theatre have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Rang Bhushan Award by Global Theatre Odisha. He has also won several Best Play and Best Director awards at state and national theatre festivals.
